About Alice Riviere I have been in Virginia real estate since 2009. I spent my early years in Richmond, moved to Alexandria where I started my real estate career and then settled in Irvington. Since much of my family is from the Northern Neck, it seemed natural to end up here. In the 90s, I graduated from UVA with a double major in mathematics and communications and I spent my first working years as a teacher. In addition to enjoying real estate, I love working with children and I still spend time tutoring. I am eager to share what the Northern Neck has to offer with those looking to be a part of this unique area. It’s one of the best places in Virginia!
About Kelly Antonio The Northern Neck has always been special to me. I grew up in Heathsville (Northumberland County) and after attending college, getting married, starting a family, and starting my teaching career in Northern Virginia, we decided to come “home.” In 2004 my husband and I moved to the Northern Neck to raise our three boys. I returned to my first career as an early childhood teacher at a local school. A few years ago, I began exploring other opportunities that would give me flexibility and allow me to spend more time with our sons. Going into real estate seemed like a natural step. We’ve renovated two of our own homes and I have fallen in love with the processes behind renovating, restoring – and now selling – homes. I’ve spent more than half of my life in the Northern Neck and I love helping people find a place here so they can enjoy the area as much as we do.
Kelly and Alice have over 20 years of combined real estate experience. In 2023 we helped our clients buy and sell over 60 properties and we reached $28M in real estate sales. The Northern Neck of Virginia, “a peninsula nestled between the Potomac and the Rappahannock Rivers,” draws many people to vacation and retire. It is also home to local waterman, farmers and other families that have chosen to build their lives here. Given that people come to the area for all different reasons and at all different times in their lives, the Northern Neck is rich in culture and diverse lifestyles. The Northern Neck is a slow paced rural area, but it is a short distance from a number of cities. Williamsburg is under an hour away from parts of the NN, Richmond is about an hour and a half and DC is under 3 hours away. Thus, day trips to big cities for shopping and events is no problem. The NN provides some very unique waterfront and access. You can boat and fish on the Bay, relax on the beaches of the Chesapeake and enjoy the calmer waters of the many rivers and small creeks.
The Northern Neck mostly encompasses Northumberland and Lancaster County. Northumberland County includes the towns of Heathsville, where there is a Food Lion, restaurants, gas station, Dollar General and the county government, Burgess, Callao, Lottsburg, Lewisetta and Reedville. Reedville has a Main Street and waterfront restaurants. Lancaster County has the closest “city” – Kilmarnock – where you will find 2 grocery stores, a Main Street with shops and restaurants and a Walmart. White Stone and Irvington are also in Lancaster County, within a few miles of Kilmarnock. Irvington is best known for the resort, The Tides Inn. Houses in the Northern Neck are valued at prices from under $100,000 up into the millions. Waterfront homes are generally more expensive than non-waterfront. However, all houses in the NN have water access as there are public boat launches, marinas, beaches and natural preserves.
